LURISTAN BRONZE AGE

BRONZE AXE

Ref #:  566

Type:  Axe

Material:  Bronze

Period:  Luristan Bronze Age  4500 years ago

Provenance:  Kerman - SE Iran

Measurements:  16 x 11.3 cm

Comments:  A very broad and large axe.  Engraved design around the back shaft portion and part of blade is meant to imitate sinew lashing of the earliest axes whereby a celt was hafted to a shaft with cord.
